On Wednesday, the central government dispatched a team of medical personnel from different fields to Mumbai. The union government made this significant move in response to the report of a measles outbreak and the deaths of three children.

The Union Health minister stated that the exact cause of death is unknown and that they are not sure whether the deaths are caused by measles. He added that the team dispatched to the financial capital will determine whether these were in fact measles cases and will also check the vaccination status of the children who have died.

As per the plan, the team will submit a preliminary report on Thursday evening. He also stated that if measles is determined to be the cause of death, the medical team will recommend the necessary interventions to control the outbreak. The team sent by the center consists of four members, including Dr. Anubhav Srivastava, Deputy Director of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program (IDSP), NCDC.
